Great comprehensive guide to the R and C107

This book is an extremely comprehensive review of the 107 series, from its inception, details about the car, its changes over the years and successor. This book is not a buyers guide, so buy it if you're interested in the car, not looking to buy one. It also covers the rally cars etc.

I would also add that it is written from a worldwide point of view which is great - so many of these Mercedes books are very USA model centric - this book take a very comprehensive worldwide view. On the downside, there are some inaccuracies for the Australian spec models which were different to the USA ones (e.g. no CAT until 1986), but overall the book is very good.

The book also contains information about product numbers and specs for each year. These are spread throughout the narrative instead of being in table form for comparisons.

Some things get better with age.Brain Long Who lives with his wife in Japan has long been a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast and owner of the R107 Coupe 450SLC and the 450SL touring sports car. With his connections to Mercedes-Benz archives comes a new book revealing the birth of this model, a transfer of the W113 SL Pagaoda
from 1963 to 1989 and perhaps the longest running SL produced in Mercedes-Benz history 18 year, so you can expect a lot of small to big changes before the mold's got thin. today these are considered the next young classic from Mercedes-Benz.

Brain Long goes into much detail both mechanical and also add some history that happened during the periods of time so you don't get board. there is much to learn from his research. I will lease it to you to decide.included are different color codes and upholstery for each year with a bi line of information that grabs at you. This is a book that has to be read like drinking fine wine . you can not take it all in at once because their is so much to be learned till the last of the 560SL and classic SLC coupes.

If you are a fan of the SL Sports car in august of this year will debut another book on the W113 SL Pagaoda 230SL ,250SL ,and some touches on the 280LS. own them both and you can instantly tell you neighbors what and how and why about their car , that will stop them in their tracks. may Be even get them to buy
another before the prices zoom up again. with so many build looking for orginal ones is a challenge . they are out there and command the same no less price when new if keep in pristine condition .they are also an excellent car for your son or daughter going off to college. Build like a tank safety was the primary focus on this car so having one as an enjoyable summer car with the hard top removed.

This is a "must have" book for any owner or person interested in the R107 series Mercedes SL's. Book was in new condition and it's an enjoyable read, whether you are a long time Mercedes owner and familiar with the marque or a newbie getting interested.

A Perfect title

Peace at the end of a war-peace for whom? Peace provides no easy "peace of mind" or comfort for those who have been involved in war. This book takes the reader into the troubled mind of Henry, an American pilot who was shot down over occupied France during World War II. In Under a War Torn Sky(first book), he was hunted by the Germans and lived through many adventures as he sought to get to safety. At the beginning of this book Henry is back at his home in Virginia but he faces post-traumatic stress syndrome and can't seem to find peace.

His solution is to return to France to find the people who had helped him survive. While America is celebrating peace Henry finds a world turned upside down.

This book would be a great book for history teachers to use to illustrate the dicotomy of war and peace. I can see a parallel to the "peace" in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other similar "areas of unrest." This should be a "must read" for students of history, military strategy, and policy making. This book is recommended for middle and high school readers. I think younger readers would need some support to understand all the intricate details provided in this adventure.

A TROUBLED PEACE Elevates L.M. Elliott to Superstar Status

A Trouble Peace -- sequel could stand alone

I've waited a long time to find out what happened to all my favorite characters and I was not disappointed. "A Troubled Peace" was just as interesting and exciting as "Under a War Torn Sky" -- I could hardly put it down. Thank you, thank you, thank you for finally answering all my questions. We are currently learning about WWII in school and unfortunately, the sad realities that millions of French people faced trying to rebuild their lives has not been part of the discussion. I can't wait to give it to my friends!

Great Introduction to a generative analysis of language

For the longest time, I have been interested in generative linguistics, but I couldn't understand principles such as Extended Projection Principle (EPP) and the distinction of phrases (e.g., CP, IP, and DP). I like reading a lot of current published work in linguistics framed in Minimalism, so this book has really helped me understand the current concerns in linguistics by it explaining concepts such as from X-Bar (that was framed in Government and Binding) before preceding onto more current modes of analysis. Furthermore, it seems to help me analyze language too.

About the Author

Too much filler

I bought the book on the basis of the author's TED talk, which I loved. However, the book is a disappointment. The actual "liespotting" information is good, and very readable, but there's not enough of it. Then there is the filler that goes on and on. The filler material takes two forms: 1) topics that are only marginally related (for example, "Doing a deception audit at your corporation"...really? This is not of much interest in a book that presents itself as a how-to on discovering lies in personal interactions), and 2) stretching out the actual liespotting material with tiresome justifications telling you why it's a good thing to be able to spot lies. Telling me once is fine; telling me over and over is filler.

The photos were a good idea. I would have liked to see more of them, though, and more subtle ones, as well.

Whoever was editing this book must have been forcing the author to make it longer, rather than doing the better job of tightening it up and keeping the focus where it belongs. Good idea, good kernel of information, but poor execution.

A complete revelation. Meyer presents the most comprehensive guide to the science of deception I have ever encountered. Untruths are an unfortunate reality of my career, whether harmless social posturing, or truly insidious acts of deceit, and this book breaks open the subject - not to mention the human psyche - at a truly remarkable level. In addition, the author distills lie-spotting techniques to their most practical, their least intrusive. I felt as though I had been given social and professional x-ray specs, but no one will know I am wearing them.

Overall, a totally fantastic read - I can't say enough about the accomplishment.

Most of the books I have bought share an annoying characteristic ... the authors have only a handful of ideas to present. In order to fill a book to make it look like we are buying something worthwhile, they create pages and pages of useless filler diatribe.

This book was a refreshing surprise. Every page has at least one interesting fact which most of us will find useful in our lives sometime in the future.

The book is well edited and presents its information in an easy to read format. Because of this well-laid arrangement, we are also able to easily assimilate the many facts into a bigger whole, making this a true gem.

Basic cabin-building for enthusiastic beginners.

Title says it all. With this book, an axe, and a Swede saw, I built my own home in the northern woods (Yukon). Angier's enthusiasm, and can-do attitude overcomes the obstacles and leads you to an unforgetable experience. Lots of fun

A Rare Classic on Country Living

I was very pleased to find this used volume in excellent condition.I loaned my old one years ago and won't loan this one. Why only four stars? Some may find it dated, but it provides time honored info for basic shelter built with hand tools only. The time could come in our country when such info is life saving.

Fascinating and Inspiring

I bought this book after reading about how the founder of Base Camp X built his cabin in the woods using only an ax and some rope. This book shows you how anyone can build their own home with a limited set of tools and no specialized skills. I truly could not believe how thorough and simple the instructions and techniques illustrated in this book were. After reading, I feel perfectly capable of heading off to the woods and building a home.

Unfortunately, the book is slightly out of date. Neither Alaska, nor Canada are offering free land to all comers so there is a bit more involved in the process than there was when this book was written. Still, I know what I will be doing when I retire.
