Misleading title for a compilation of articles

This book is just a compilation of articles from various sources that go from individual researchers to the India Daily. It is therefore very difficult to review it and impossible to verify the information as only the source is given, but not the title of the book or paper, or the date of the article for the newspaper. The topics range from esoterical matters, such as aura viewing, to scientific concepts for the general public (dimensions, possibility of time travel , etc) and are arranged in a random way with little logical connection between the chapters.
Now, who are the Ulema? In Arabic they are scholars, but some names given (Master Li among others)are not Arabic, so is this a secret society of some sort? Not all the sources are scholars, some authors quoted include very controversial people such as David Icke and Laurence Gardner, but Mr. De La Fayette writes as if they spoke universal truths...
Finally, the book is full of grammatical errors and poorly built sentences obviously written by a non-native speaker of English. Maybe some proofreading would have helped the book gain another star.
Very disappointing compared to the promising title.

The Pearl of Great Price

This book is a rare pearl! It is an excellent map for Consciousness expansion. There are enough mental exercises in the book to last us the rest of our lives. We learn in this book how to protect ourselves from negativity, how to read auras; we learn about teleportation, remote viewing, the healing touch, and the secret of longevity. We are taught about the conduit located in the brain's cells which when activated can take us to places and spaces presently unknown to most of us! We learn of the Akashic Records, as well as stargates to other worlds; and more than that, we learn about the fourth dimesion. Although the material is vast and almost overwhelming, I believe we should have confidence that we can successfully master these exercises. Thank you, Mr. de Lafayette, for sharing the precious Ulema teachings with us. You have opened new doors for us to enter!

Those who have written reviews criticizing the teachings in the book are unable to "see outside of the box" and have mistaken a pearl for a stone. They are not open to new truths and have their minds already made up out of their habits of "seeing" along a very narrow range. It is unfortunate that they cannot share in the light. Mr. de Lafayette is a truth seeker and is sharing his light with all who thirst for truths. He shares the precious Ulema teachings out of love for humanity -- and for our spiritual growth and enlightenment. I ask those who critize the book: Have you tried any of the exercises in the book????

This is an impressive "how to" book for the man or woman who have taken the steps to be granted their sovereignty. It gives one tools and explanations of those unseen elements that play a crucial role in our life experience. As spiritual beings we are children who are only now waking up to a new and wonderful world. A word of caution, however, this book is not for the man or woman seeking enlightenment and truth. This book is an important handbook of many for those who have already crossed the threshold. Although one might be able to instill in themselves the need for transcendence by reading. I would recommend this book to the newly enlightened who are looking for answers the explain the reason why things happen in the new world around them. It may not make much sense to the uninitiated.

Incredible intro into the world of Python

This book takes you into the world of programming with the Python language, teaching with graphics that make understanding the concepts much easier.

This intro into programming helps the reader understand the functions and datatypes used in all programming, while showing how to use them specifically with Python 3.x. Python is in continuous development, versions 2.7 and 3.x are the two most common versions. They both work with different syntax and specific quirks. This book will work with any increment of Python version 3.

An overall guide to the logic flow and Syntax used with Python
Instructions for installing packages to use with Python
Instructions on using specific packages to get the most out of your code

Well-paced, Visual Introduction to Python 3.x Development

This is a good book for beginners to programming and Python 3.x, but it is only useful for beginners. Most burgeoning developers who stick with it will want to invest in a better reference once they learn the basics.

Full Review:
Learn Python Visually is in the same vein of the Head First series of books as it tries to break down abstract concepts in programming languages using visual diagrams and casual language to introduce concepts to the reader. Most concepts in the book are further explained using a plethora of brightly-colored tables, diagrams, and pictures all meant to help the user visualize how each aspect of Python works. Afterwards, the user is given a short quiz or exercises which asks simple questions or requires a block of code covering the previous topic. At no point is the material presented overwhelming and each topic is covered to the point that a novice developer would have no problem developing simple command-line programs.

The contents of the book include how to install the Python development environment, Python 3.x development including language syntax and standard library contents, and ends with a mish-mash of topics as they relate to Python. These are additions are nice, but by no means are they definitive explanations of each of the topics and divert from the focus of the book, which is learning Python. Each of the topics -- including JSON, sqlite3, and Flask provide snippets of each, but leave a lot to be desired and I feel would stand better as independent resources or as parts of larger projects to facilitate learning, rather than diversions from core Python.

Cons:
- Not thorough enough to be reference material
- Lots of white space means that there's a lot of unnecessary page-turning

Final thoughts:
While certainly not a definitive resource on Python it is a good reference for a beginner in a style that may be off-putting to some while very helpful to others. For those that can handle the dry, focused stream of reference material provided by say an O'Reilly book then I would probably go in that direction, but for someone who is learning programming or wanting to learn Python in a non-traditional way then I would absolutely check this book out.

Best way to learn new programming language

I'm not python programmer professionally but I do work with other languages at work. This is the best way to pick up other language very quickly. All examples used in the book are referring to old version of Python, you might need to make some adjustments on your part, not a big deal. Finally, I do have problem running GUI option, so I'll need to figure it out.

Awesome book

4th grade teacher and huge Gordon Korman fan. I read this aloud to my class, and they loved it (most agreed it was their favorite read aloud this year). It is told from multiple perspectives, suspenseful, adventurous, descriptive, and has well developed, likable characters. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

An excellent cliff hanger

Masterminds is an engaging, well-written page turner. I can imagine it appealing to many readers in the YA category. I wuld have given it five stars if it had been a complete story with a sequel rather than a cliff hanger. I recognize the cliff hanger genre is very popular among YA readers, but I prefer a complete presentation in one book. That said, I would have no trouble recommending this book to the 6 - 8th graders in the school where I volunteer. And I did order the next book.

Could be quite a bit better.

This book does what it says on the tin, in that it is concise history of Finland. However, that's about it. If you are looking for any sort of depth into the events, this is not the book for you. Secondly, if you are looking for something that's fairly readable, this is not the book for you. There are numerous sentence format errors throughout this book, which caused me to have to reread parts over and over again, and I still don't actually know what he was trying to communicate. There are also frequent spelling errors, which cause me to wonder if this book was edited by anyone.

Mr. Kirby's focus is very clearly academia, as he frequently goes into depth about the various happenings at the primary universities. The most notable was a full two pages about a number of papers, which Mr. Kirby dismisses as fairly unimportant. However, a major political and cultural turning point (acknowledged as such by Mr. Kirby) gets a sentence. This sort of imbalance in focus is consistent throughout all chapters of the book. I was specifically hoping that this book would give me an overview of the major points of their history, so that I would then know which areas and aspects I wished to delve further into, but sadly this book did not deliver as I wanted. I would not purchase this item again.

I'm glad I bought this book!

For those who love Finland and would love to know the history of this small nation which is having such an impact on the world right now, this is the book for you. You can read with a curiosity that is guaranteed to be satisfied. You'll find yourself turning pages eager to know more. But you must be prepared for lengthy spells of academic reading. It is not an easy quick "read." You must surely have a love for Finnish people and for all things Finnish and a great abiding interest in the discipline of history, especially political history. You will find out how Finland has come to be. It has excellent appendices, including a list of the nation's key dates of events in history, political statistics, an extensive guide to further reading, a comprehensive index, and good notes.

A Difficult Road to Nationhood

This book is an informative account of the development of a modern nation from its beginning as the home of a unique people with a unique language, the Finns. Overlaid on this were colonisation in the 12th centry by the Swedes who also brought with them western Christianity. This placed the new country at odds at many levels with its burgeoning neighbour, Russia. However, through some deft handling by the country's politicians, diplomats and occasionally its military, Finland managed to keep Russia pretty well at arm's length until well into the last centruy. In fact the last restrictive arrangement with Russia was not removed until 1995 with Finland's entry into the EU.

The book did concentrate on the vital political aspects which was probably necessary to remain "concise", but perhaps it would have been even more interesting to expand on other national aspects. For example the creation of the Nokia company was barely mentioned. Another improvement would have been a couple of larger scale maps for areas of interest.

My conclusion - it was well worth the purchase.

Can produce better grades

A lot of things in this book are common sense when it comes to applying yourself to get better grades. However, it is explained in a way that a lot of people haven't ever thought about these topics being explained. Also there are great study tactics and test taking strategies that are included in this book. This book would be very helpful for all students especially to students new to college.

I purchased "The A Game: Nine Steps to Better Grades" after hearing Dr. Ken Sufka speak to an auditorium full of potential Ole Miss students on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Sitting next to my soon to be Ole Miss college freshman daughter, I found myself nodding in agreement with every point made. My daughter, already a strong "A" student with good study skills, was not overly impressed. The difference in high school study skills and college level study skills is lost on her. Helping her learn to apply the strategies (especially concept mapping) during her remaining months of high school will better prepare her for the rigor of study necessary to succeed in college. As an independent college admission consultant, I purchased several copies to share with students and parents to aid in their preparation for university level work. Thank you, Dr. Sufka, for sharing your research and providing guidance to help students succeed. I only wish I had had a copy with me on Saturday to ask Dr. Sufka to autograph!

Great Advice for any student

I use this book when I talk to my college students advisees how to improve your grades. I also gave it to my niece who is in middle school. I love how clear and easy to understand is the information and how much better students will do if they followed it. Great book, Great Advise, Great Gift for a student.
