About the Author
Amanda Cabot is the bestselling author of more than thirty novels and half a dozen novellas, including Jeremy and Esther’s story, The Christmas Star Bride, and Waiting for Spring, which tells Madame Charlotte’s story. Although she grew up in the East, a few years ago Amanda and her high school sweetheart husband fulfilled a lifelong dream and are now living in Cheyenne. In addition to writing, Amanda enjoys traveling and sharing parts of her adopted home with readers in her Wednesday in Wyoming blog. One of Amanda’s greatest pleasures is hearing from readers, and so she invites you to find her online at www.amandacabot.com.
Three-time Carol Award winner and bestselling author of fifteen novels, Melanie Dobson is the former corporate publicity manager at Focus on the Family and owner of Dobson Media Group. Because of her husband’s work in the film industry, their family has lived in multiple states as well as Germany, but the Dobson family is settled for now in a small town near Portland, Oregon. Melanie loves connecting with readers via her website at www.melaniedobson.com.
CBA Bestselling author Pam Hillman was born and raised on a dairy farm in Mississippi and spent her teenage years perched on the seat of a tractor raking hay. In those days, her daddy couldn't afford two cab tractors with air conditioning and a radio, so Pam drove an Allis Chalmers 110. Even when her daddy asked her if she wanted to bale hay, she told him she didn't mind raking. Raking hay doesn't take much thought so Pam spent her time working on her tan and making up stories in her head. Now, that's the kind of life every girl should dream of. www.pamhillman.com
Although currently residing in North Carolina, Myra Johnson proudly claims her heritage as a native Texan, and she sorely misses real Texas barbecue! Myra is a two-time ACFW Carol Award finalist, winner of the 2005 RWA Golden Heart, and winner of the 2014 Christian Retailing’s Best Award for historical fiction. Married since 1972, Myra and her husband have two bright, beautiful daughters, two mission-minded sons-in-law, and seven amazing grandchildren. The Johnsons share their home with a couple of very pampered rescue dogs.
Amy Lillard loves nothing more than a good book. Except for her family. . .and maybe homemade tacos. . .and nail polish. But reading and writing are definitely high on the list. Born and bred in Mississippi, Amy is a transplanted Southern Belle who now lives in Oklahoma with her deputy husband, their genius son, three spoiled cats, and one very lazy beagle. When she’s not creating quirky characters and happy endings, she’s chauffeuring her prodigy to guitar lessons, orchestra concerts, and baseball practice. She has a variety of hobbies, but her favorite is whatever gets her out of housework. An award-winning author, Amy is a member of RWA and ACFW. She loves to hear from readers. You can find her on Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Twitter, Goodreads, and Pinterest. For links to the various sites, check her website: www.amylillardbooks.com.

ANN SHOREY has been a full-time writer for over twenty years. Her writing has appeared in Chicken Soup for the Grandma’s Soul, and in the Adams Media Cup of Comfort series. She made her fiction debut with The Edge of Light, Book One in the At Home in Beldon Grove series. Her latest releases include Love’s Sweet Beginning, the third book in the Sisters at Heart series, and a novella in the Sincerely Yours collection.
The Oregon Trail Romance collection is a perfect fit for her, as Ann’s great-grandparents came west over the Oregon Trail as part of one of the last wagon trains. According to her grandfather’s memoirs, “there were thousands of covered wagons on the road.” This novella is the story of one of those wagons.
Jennifer Uhlarik discovered the western genre as a preteen, when she swiped the only “horse” book she found on her older brother’s bookshelf. A new love was born. Across the next ten years, she devoured Louis L’Amour westerns and fell in love with the genre. In college at the University of Tampa, she began penning her own story of the Old West. Armed with a BA in writing, she has won five writing competitions and was a finalist in two others. In addition to writing, she has held jobs as a private business owner, a schoolteacher, a marketing director, and her favorite—a full-time homemaker. Jennifer is active in American Christian Fiction Writers and is a lifetime member of the Florida Writers Association. "The Sagebrush Bride" a lesson in history and a must read.
By Debbie D.
Amanda Cabot succeeded again! I just finished reading her short story in, "The Oregon Trail" entitled, "The Sagebrush Bride" and found it to be a delightful story. Amanda candidly portrayed some of the hardships, including sickness and death, that the early pioneers had to face on their trek to their destination in Oregon. As expected from Amanda, "The Sagebrush Bride" was filled with unique situations and realistic characters that all come together nicely to insure a good, substantial read from the start of the story to its end . Unfortunately, "The Sagebrush Bride" ended too soon for me!

Wonderful Stories of the Oregon Trail
By Bonnie M. McKee
The recent release of The Oregon Trail Romance Collection features novellas penned by Amanda Cabot, Melanie Dobson, Pam Hillman, Myra Johnson, Amy Lillard, DiAnn Mills, Anna Schmidt, Ann Storey and Jennifer Uhlari. The stories are all located on the Oregon Trail during the middle 1800s.
As an avid reader who selects historical fiction by Christian authors almost exclusively for my pleasure reading, I think, over the past thirty plus years, that I have read every setting, theme and situation imaginable! Yet, I found within the covers of this book some wonderfully creative stories and situations with fresh spins which not only delighted and surprised me, but added markedly to very enjoyable reading. I read novellas because they are by favorite authors, but I prefer full length novels. I did find each of these stories fully developed stories that include plausible characters, interesting themes and a unique insight into the entire scenario of these 'people' and this place and time. Still, I was not ready to leave the trail when the end came! Basically, each of these individuals, for a variety of reasons, traveled west to find new lives. I wanted to be with them, to see how lives were changed and fulfilled in a new place!! Great job, ladies!
I highly recommend this book. While it is a compilation of fictional stories, each author's robust research and their understanding of the real stories of the Oregon Trail enabled these talented writers to produce stories that are reasonably realistic of the adventure, the hardships and life on the trail. And, as I expressed previously, as much as I was tired of the dust and the endless miles of walking and as exhausted as I was at the end of each day, there were so many new friends that I regrettably left them to settle into their new lives. I hope some day to catch up with them!

Faith based pioneer romance.
By Penny
A collection of faith based stories for those who like to romanticize about living in pioneer days. I have enjoyed the different characters and situations these folks encountered both in daily living and in their romances. The rough edged pages make you think this book came right out of the pioneer days which added a nice touch.
